Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a great Indian scientist who served the country from 2002 to 2007 as the 11th President of India. He was the most eminent person in India because he had contributed much to the country as a scientist and President. His contribution to 'ISRO' is unforgettable. Many projects were led by him, like the launch of Rohini-1, Project Devil and Project Valiant, the development of missiles (Agni and Prithvi), etc. He is called the "Missile Man of India" for his outstanding contribution to improving India's nuclear power. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, for his dedicated work. After the completion of his term as the President of India, Dr. Kalam served the country as a visiting professor in various colleges and universities.
 
Dr. Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 to Jainullabdeen and Ashiyamma. The financial condition of his family was not good, so he started working at a very young age to provide financial assistance. However, he never gave up his studies during his work. He completed his graduation from St. Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli, in 1954 and aeronautical engineering from Madras Institute. After graduation, Kalam joined DRDO as a Chief Scientist, although he soon shifted to the Indian Space Research Organization as the Project Director of India's first indigenous satellite missile. Dr. Kalam also served as the Chief Executive of the Guided Missile Development Program, which involved the simultaneous development of missiles.
 
Dr. Kalam served as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and Secretary DRDO from 1992 to 1999. He became known as the "Missile Man of India" after his successful contribution as the Chief Project Coordinator for the Pokhran II nuclear test. He was the first scientist who was the President of India from 2002 to 2007 without any political background.
 
He wrote many inspirational books like "India 2020, Ignited Minds, Mission India, The Luminous Spark, Inspiring Thoughts" etc. Dr. Kalam started a mission for the youth named "What Can I Give Movement" to eradicate corruption in the country. He has served as visiting professor in various institutes and universities in the country, including the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, JSS University (Mysore), Aerospace Engineering At Anna University (Chennai), etc. He was honored with many prestigious awards and honors like Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna, Indira Gandhi Award, Veer Savarkar Award, Ramanujan Award, etc.
